Munich Celebrates Oktoberfest With Parades, Costumes And A Whole Lot Of Beer

Every autumn, more than six million people from all around the world show up in Munich in weird costumes to celebrate an almost 200 year old agricultural festival that is central to Bavarian culture. If you have no idea what we’re talking about, we have just one word for you: beer.

That’s right, Oktoberfest is in full swing, and it looks like people are having a blast despite increased security measures! Nothing can dampen the spirit of these party goers, who are out of their mind excited to be at the largest beer festival and traveling fair!

Truly, the only way to experience Oktoberfest to go to Munich for it. Sure, we can drink German beer here at home, and even visit pretty authentic German bars in our own cities, but it just isn’t the same as being in a huge beer tent with thousands of other people, babbling mostly in German but also in a ton of other languages, all united by the joy that is consuming beautiful golden German beer.

Also, we should mention that the beer served at Oktoberfest has to be brewed according to very old German brewing laws – like, hundreds-of-years old! Meaning that there really is no beer like an Oktoberfest beer!

There’s also a parade, and though we’re not quite sure why a lot of the people in it are wearing full old school armor and stripey tights, we love it just the same! And seriously, have you ever heard (or even seen!) this many tubas at one time?

Alright, that’s it – we’re buying lederhosen immediately and getting plane tickets for next year, because this looks like so much fun! Seriously, I don’t see an unhappy person in the whole crowd! We’re going, you’re invited… meet us on the first day of Oktoberfest 2017 – we’ll be the ones with huge steins singing drinking songs with the best of them!
