When It Rains, It Pours!

Sometimes, when it rains, it pours. And that can be a good thing or a bad thing, as the case may be. Take the story of Alexis and Gabe, who debuted their story on a show called The Doctors. The couple had been married for a while and had been trying to get pregnant for four years, with no luck. Alexis received four rounds of fertility treatments herself, and the couple tried expensive in-vitro fertilization, which also didn’t work.

Both of them are young and healthy, but that didn’t stop them from visiting many doctors to see if there was anything they could do to improve their changes. Alexis even changed her diet, but nothing helped. Alexis didn’t understand why it wasn’t working, and after years of struggling and two miscarriages, the two turned to adoption, only to find heartbreak there as well. “While a lot of people jump to adoption right away, and I think it’s a beautiful option, it is just as difficult and painful as struggling with infertility,” Alexis explained. As anyone who has gone through the adoption process knows, it can be a long, costly, and emotionally draining journey to receiving a child. Alexis and Gabe were once told that they had a baby waiting for them, only to have the adoption fall through at the last minute.

This is where their first story on The Doctors ended, but Alexis and Gabe returned for an update,  and this time their luck had completely turned around. Not only had the pair been approved to adopt a new baby, but Alexis had recently found out that she was pregnant! Though their struggle was long and tiring, the couple never gave up hope. “I’ve never thought that we wouldn’t be parents,” Alexis told the show. “That thought never crossed my mind.”
