Visit Hawaii’s Big Island Today!

Most people who visit Hawaii don’t actually go to the Big Island; they’re more likely to end up on Maui or Kauai, and assume that the actual Island of Hawaii is just a big metropolis. In reality, this couldn’t be farther from the truth. The main island has a lot of the features that the smaller ones offer, including volcanoes, virgin beaches, and lush tropical forests! And with tourists island hopping to the other islands, believe it or not, the Big Island is something of a hidden gem – hidden in plain sight, that is!

Volcanoes National Park is a big reason why we love the Big Island. It housing a few different volcanic attractions, including the youngest volcano on the island (Kīlauea) and probably the oldest, Mauna Loa. It’s not all start mountains and lava flow, however. This national park is home to some of the most beautiful rainforests in the whole world, and you can stroll around some of them – or even book a night in a treehouse next to the park!

If beaches are more your style, we recommend Hāpuna beach. The white coral sands are absolutely gorgeous and the snorkeling is incredible. The water isn’t too rough there, either, so it’s a great place to laze around and stare at tropical fish all day! There is also a lifeguard on duty, which makes the beach extremely family friendly and an excellent place to catch the “aloha spirit”!
