Iceland’s Buubble Hotel Has Not Just 5, But 5 Million Stars

This quaint village, known as “Mary’s Cottages”, includes four thatched stone structures in Elgol, which is a secluded fishing village. Over the past 20 years,  two of the picturesque black-houses have been restored from ruins of the traditional Scottish structures. Two others have been built to match the originals. All four houses contain classic built in “boxed” king beds, vaulted ceilings, underfloor heating,  Caithness slate floors and oil stoves. Each cottage has an additional two single beds tucked under the eaves on the mezzanine, allowing each to sleep a family of four.

Also included in the sale price is the owner’s house, a more modern five bedroom, four bathroom brick structure with a greenhouse. It can also be converted to a guest lodge if the new owners don’t want to live on the premises. But if they do, the new neighbors include dolphins, otters, eagles and basking sharks in the nearby bay.

Though nearby Loch Coruisk might also have a different kind of wildlife: it’s “reputed to be the home of a water horse, or perhaps better known as ‘Kelpie’, the Scots name given to a shape-shifting water spirit inhabiting the lochs and pools of Scotland.” Ferries run daily from the jetty in Elgol to Loch Coruisk and the picturesque Cuillin Mountains.

The 2.6 acre property is already a popular wedding destination and  functioning “lifestyle business” according to the listing, with an up and running website and over 3,000 likes on Facebook.
