Officer Helps Autistic Boy With Push Ups

People with autism often have a different way of approaching the world; they sometimes have sensory discrepancies and see/hear/feel things much differently than others. As such, they can get overloaded or worked up easily, and it sometimes takes a unique and individualized approach to help them calm down.

Christy Richardson knows this very well. Her son 19 year old son, Bubba, has autism, and sometimes when he gets worked up, there isn’t much she can do to help him out. However, Bubba has always been fascinated with police officers. So when Christy couldn’t get Bubba to calm down recently, she called the Bradley County Sheriff’s Department for help.

Deputy Loftis responded, and he was a godsend. The department explained how the officer was able to help Bubba, “When Dep. Loftis showed up, he was able to calm ‘Bubba’ down and showed him how to channel his frustration by doing push ups.” Christy snapped a photo and shared it online to thank the officer, and it quickly went viral.

Soon, people were sharing the photo on other pages and posting in places Christy would come across randomly. But everywhere she saw it, Christy saw praise for the innovative police who were helping her son learn to cope. Bubba is now keeping track of his push up count and is currently at 711,886!

It just goes to show what a little kindness and empathy can do. Share if you agree!

Heroic UFC Fighter Miesha Tate She Helps Carry Injured 6-Year-Old Girl Down A Mountain

If you haven’t heard of MMA, UFC fighter, and former Bantamweight (126-135lbs) champion Miesha Tate,  you should take some notes.

Miesha was recently out hiking Nevada’s Mt. Charleston when she came across a young girl named Kai, who broke her arm while hiking. She noticed that her mom was struggling to carry her daughter back down the mountain to seek medical care, so she stepped up to the plate asking if she could help to carry Kai down the mountain.

Meisha posted to her Facebook, “The mother asked her 6-year-old daughter ‘would you rather have me or her carry you down’ without hesitation (to my surprise) she quickly replied ‘I want HER to carry me’ we had to laugh.”

Could you blame her? Look at those muscles! There was still at least 2 miles of trail to cover before they would make it back down, but Meisha’s determination and strength were unwavering.

After seeking medical treatment for their daughter, Kai’s mom shared her appreciation on social media. “Our family can’t thank you enough for all the help. You saved us easily hours of hiking and helped us get her to the hospital sooner.” Meisha might be tough as nails in that octagon, but she’s also an extremely kind spirit.

This isn’t the first time Miesha put on her hero cape. In 2014, she saved the life of her longtime boyfriend Bryan Caraway’s mother while they were vacationing in Mexico. When they were out diving, his mom suffered a serious asthma attack and was unable to breath or use her inhaler. Meisha put the inhaler to her own mouth performed mother mouth-to-mouth. It worked!

This woman is kicking butt and saving lives proving that not all heroes wear capes, some really awesome ones wear UFC belts.

Dressed Up As A Mermaid With His Daughter

Odds are, if your child has something that makes them unbelievably happy in this world, you’ll do anything to get it for them. If you’re not a parent, hopefully you can remember one time that your mom or dad went above and beyond to make you squeal in pure unbridled childish joy.

While trying to make his daughter happy with one little action, one father is making some serious waves. A  Reddit user  recently posted a picture of a father and his daughter, costumed and strutting around at Disneyland, both dressed as mermaids. The little girl is clearly donning an Ariel costume, while dad sports what we can only imagine is a King Triton get up. Both father and daughter are crushing the sequined mermaid fin look, and the internet agrees.

However, what the internet and Reddit users are really blowing up about is how significant the strides are that this father took to make his little girl happy. Not only is he setting amazing examples about gender roles, in one simple picture, this anonymous dad is showing the world what it looks like to love a child.

One Reddit user shared his experience on the related thread saying, “Dads think all day and night about what will make their daughters happy, and then they try their best to make it happen, some how, some way, and they’re devastated when they can’t. This guy got those outfits and came up with the idea of wearing it for one reason, and one reason only – he wanted to see his little girl’s eyes light up.”

The photo even inspired other fathers to share their mildly embarrassing, but daughter pleasing pics of when they went above and beyond for their little girls!

Momma Duck Quacking For Help Leads To A Tense Duckling Rescue

In the hustle and bustle of daily life, we tend to focus on ourselves, and sometimes forget that we share this world with millions of other organisms. There are other animals all around us, even in urban settings.

One man in Phoenix, AZ was out taking a walk recently and noticed a feathered friend quacking at him. A lone duck stood by a grate off the side of the road  repeatedly quacking. The good Samaritan noticed that in addition to the quacks, he was also hearing little chirps. After deciding to get a little closer to investigate, he quickly noticed that this mama duck’s baby ducklings had slipped through the grate and into the pit below. She was standing guard of her roost and trying to flag down some help.

The man enlisted the help of the Phoenix Fire Department who soon arrived at the scene to help the ducklings in distress. While the firemen got to work figuring out a way to help get these little guys out of the storm drain, the mama duck flew in circles overhead to keep an eye on her babies. Luckily, the fireman found a cooler nearby, got into the storm drain and were able to rescue all nine ducklings safe and sound!

After safely pulling the ducklings out of the drain, mama duck had settled in a neighbor’s yard nearby. The firemen were able to release the little duckling back into mama’s care. While mama duck learned a hard lesson about watching where she steps, she was lucky enough to find a kind-hearted fellow Earthling or two to help her out!

4-Year-Old Finds Unexpected Friend While Out Grocery Shopping With Her Mom

When Tara Wood brought her 4-year-old daughter, Norah, to a grocery store last week, she didn’t think they would be making a difference in someone’s life forever.

Tara was grabbing cupcakes for her daughter when they passed an older man by himself, looking stern. Norah spotted him and shouted, “Hey old person, it’s my birthday today!”

Quite the opposite of being mad that Norah yelled at him, the older man’s face lit up and he stopped to chat with the little girl. The pair talked for some minutes while a bemused Tara stood by. When it was time to go, Norah insisted that her mom snap a photo of her and the old man, who she called Mr. Dan.

When Tara posted the pic online with the story below, she got a response back from a stranger, who said it was the first time he had seen the man, Dan Peterson, smile since his wife’s death in March. He had been suffering from anxiety and depression for six months, but the little girl had sparked something in him.

Tara got in contact with Mr. Dan, and he and Norah have been fast friends ever since. “She has shown me a depth of love, a depth I didn’t know existed,” Mr. Dan told reporters who had gotten wind of the heartwarming story.

He said that he hadn’t had one night of uninterrupted sleep since the death of his wife until he met her. For Mr. Dan’s 82nd birthday last month, Tara and Norah surprised him with balloons, presents, and cupcakes!

He’ll also be spending time with them during the upcoming holidays. It seems that in that one trip to the grocery store, Norah got a new grandpa and Mr. Dan got a new lease on life. Share if you love the message of this adorable story!
